Event medical consultancy has many years of experience working with global event brands and focuses on managing the medical needs of each event through listening, understanding and planning to achieve the best possible levels of care and outcomes for patients. Our understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the various Medical Providers and our ability to manage a
multi-agency team helps us to deliver a tailor-made approach to medical care at endurance events for our clients.
Across 2018, we worked alongside the operational and medical teams to provide the care to more than 100,000 participants, supervising the treatment of approximately 1170 patients and the transport of only 54 patients to hospital (4.5% of the total numbers treated). Our meticulous planning, contracting and management of appropriate experts in event medicine meant we were able to minimise the impact on the local health economy.

Dr Wassim Shamsuddin
Director
With over 25years experience in event medicine, Wassim set up Event Medical Consultancy Ltd. in 2010 to provide consultancy service and directorship to organisers of Mass Participation Events. A consultant in Anaesthetics and Pre-Hospital Medicine he brings with him a wealth of clinical experience. He is currently the Medical Advisor in the UK for IRONMAN, Virgin Sports, British Heart Foundation London to Brighton Bike Ride and Jigsaw Medical Services
Robert Ashton
Expert Consultant
A career paramedic in the NHS and Event Medicine, Rob was a past commissioner for a Voluntary Aid Organisation. With over 38 years’ experience, Rob has led and/or managed the planning and delivery of medical cover at major events including London 2012 Olympics for Sailing, Major Air Shows, London Marathon and IRONMAN UK. Rob has experience in Control Room Management for an Ambulance service.
Richard Carter
Expert Consultant
With over 16 years in the NHS and events, Richard has experience of leading the medical care at some of London’s blue-chip venues.
He was part of the medical team for the Olympics and Paralympics and currently leads a project in Exertional Heat Stroke aimed specifically at club and fun runners. Richard has spent several years working in the Middle East as a Paramedic. His main interests are in education and he is a current trainer of First Aid and Ambulance Care.
